The Division 2’s limited-time Cherry Blossom event is now live! Running through May 12, the event will bring Kitsunebi and Ronin attacks, new caches, a community challenge, and, of course, cherry blossoms decorating Washington DC. As an added bonus, every player who logs in during the event will receive the Rising Sun Headgear.
The city’s new decorations are serene – until a squad of five Kitsunebi Named Enemies track you down and attack. A splinter group of Outcasts, they’ll engage you in combat roughly every 10 minutes, and have distinct fighting traits. Their Shared Health Link means that damage issued to one enemy will be spread out among the group, making it harder to take them out. However, their tech is highly unstable and will occasionally malfunction, causing a shock to the individual enemy and temporarily breaking the Shared Health Link. That’s your time to strike, isolating them from the group to take them out.
If you fight long enough, the Ronin will arrive. You’ll get a prompt to call for backup to help you take on these much stronger foes. When they appear, the cherry blossom petals will turn dark blue, the game audio will change, and your encounter will begin. There are two Ronin, and they’re more deliberate, more resilient, and more equipped to sustain themselves in longer fights. Solo Agents will face one Ronin, while groups will take on the Fox Ronin and the Red Ronin simultaneously.
Taking out Ronin can earn you:
There’s more to this event than fighting the Kitsunebi and Ronin. Cherry blossoms are scattered across Washington DC, and 40 of them are corrupted and in need of restoration. Some of these are in obvious locations, while others are tucked away and easy to miss unless you’re looking for them.
